Consulting Services for the Shatt Al Arab Project/Preparation of Studies and Engineering Design

The Shatt Al Arab project encompasses the entire Shatt Al-Arab River, the Tigris River up to the 237th km, upstream of the Kassarah Barrage, and the Euphrates River to Nasiriyah and their tributaries.
The only source of fresh water to meet all future water demands of the Shatt Al Arab Project Area is surface water in rivers and marshes, because the very high salinity of the groundwater makes it unsuitable for irrigation.
The major irrigation and drainage facilities and infrastructure planned for agricultural development in this project comprise the irrigation water supply and drainage disposal systems, as well as technical solutions for the main canals.
